FEM digital verification tools

Privacy & responsible use

Last reviewed: 24 October 2026 · Public prototype and Android beta

RUMOURPRINT AI is an investigative research aid, not a source of final factual verdicts. Do not enter confidential reporting materials, private source identities, personal contact details, or other sensitive information.

What the tool does

RUMOURPRINT AI compares the text of submitted messages using wording-based methods or a multilingual semantic model running on its hosted server. It can highlight differences, group related submissions and search publicly available news or fact-check summaries. Results are investigative leads requiring independent editorial verification.

Information you choose to submit

The application processes the claims, transcripts, optional source labels, search terms and notes that you enter. It currently offers no user accounts or dedicated permanent case database. Your working claim library is maintained in the app session; sessions can reset or expire, and the project cannot guarantee recovery of submitted work. Export important reports yourself. Hosting and service providers may maintain technical or security logs subject to their own policies.

External evidence searches

When you choose to search published evidence, your edited query is sent from the application to Google News search. If you enable published fact-check search and supply your own Google Fact Check Tools API key, the query and key are sent to that Google service. The separate external sites you open from search results have their own privacy practices. Review search terms carefully and remove personal or identifying details before submitting them.

Hosting and browser data

The FEM Tools landing page is delivered through Cloudflare Pages, and the investigation workspace is hosted on Streamlit Community Cloud. These services may use operational logs, browser storage, cookies, or security controls. This page does not claim their data is never retained. If website analytics are enabled, their operation is governed by the relevant provider settings and policies.

Android beta installer

The Android app is currently a debug-signed beta distributed through a GitHub release for testing. It displays the same hosted RUMOURPRINT web service and requires internet access. It is not a Play Store release or an offline AI application. Future release-signed builds may not install over this beta.

Editorial limitations

Similarity scores do not determine whether a claim is true or false, which message came first, who wrote it, how widely it spread, or whether accounts are coordinated. Luganda support remains experimental. Users remain responsible for reviewing original documents, publication dates and source credibility.
